Master's Tools
Each officer, when installed into the office, is given the tools of that officer and their uses.
The Worshipful Master is installed with the Charter of the lodge; the Book of Consitutions; the By-Laws of the lodge; the Holy Bible, Square, and Compass; and the working tools of a master mason.
The Charter is a document given by the Grand Lodge that allowd the lodge to legally meet and conduct business as a Masonic Lodge.
The Book of Constitutions contains the governing rules of the Grand Lodge, and any violation of them are a grave offence.
The By-Laws of a lodge are it's governing document. It contains the rules for meetings, dates and times for meetings, and consequences of misconduct in a lodge.
The Holy Bible is the Great Light in Masonry and is used as a guide for masons to judge their actions.
The Square, the jewel of the Master, teaches us to square our actions by the Square of Virtue.
The Compass teaches us to circumsrcive ourselves within the bounds of Deity and Man.
The Square, again, teaches us to square our actions by the Square of Virute.
The Twenty-Four Inch Guage teaches us to divide our time into three equal parts, eight hours for the service of God and a distrssed worthy brother, eight hours to our usual vocations, and either to refreshement and sleep.
The Common Gavel is used symbolically to break off the rough corners of our earthly nature.
The Plumb amonishes us to walk uprightly before Deity and Man.
The Level teaches equality.
The Trowel is used to symbolically spread the cement of Brotherly Love and Affection.
